Infection Prevention and Control & Antibiotic Resistance and Antimicrobial Stewardship
Provided by Idaho’s Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) Program
The Idaho Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) Program in the Division of Public Health supports Idaho’s licensed healthcare and residential care facilities by improving infection prevention and control practices and enhancing infection prevention (IP) programs.
The HAI Program provides free technical assistance and education for infection prevention and control, multi-drug resistance organisms (MDROs), and antimicrobial stewardship. The HAI Program’s service menu includes, but is not limited to:
- Host monthly 30-minute virtual infection prevention meetings facilitated by an infection control nurse specifically targeted to
- 1) skilled nursing facilities and
- 2) assistance living facilities.
- Review policies and practices to identify program strengths and gaps to support ongoing quality improvement efforts.
- Provide one-on-one outbreak support to stop transmission.
- Develop educational materials and resources to support facilities with staff and/or resident education.
