This presentation will provide a comprehensive view of behavioral health strategies and a review of Idaho rules relating to behavior management. Additionally, it will cover how to recognize behaviors requiring monitoring, documentation, care planning, developing effective interventions, training and modeling for staff, and strategies for safety. Scenario exercises based on actual Assisted Living experiences will be included.
This session will also review regulatory compliance for behavior management, identify and address barriers that impede access for people with or at risk of substance use disorders, available services for detection, diagnosis, and management of such conditions, and activity techniques to decrease maladaptive behaviors.

About the Presenter
Lea Stoltz is a co-owner of Five Star Consulting, LLC, a company which provides training and clinical regulatory support to long term care and assisted living facilities. Ms. Stoltz was a state surveyor for twelve years. For nearly 40 years, Lea Stoltz has worked, learned, and taught in the healthcare field, with an emphasis on providing services to individuals with behavioral challenges.

Fees and CEUs

IHCA Members – $79 per person -
Non-members – $149 per person -
Up to 4 CEUs possible
Explanation of CEUs:
- CEUs are awarded only to those individuals who are registered for the class (no substitutions are allowed).
- Registered attendees must attend the entire presentation to receive CEUs.
- Generally, one CEU is awarded for every sixty (60) minutes of actual presentation time.
- Registrants should retain copies of their CEU certificate and any handouts in the event they are audited by the licensing agency.
Education offered by Idaho Health Care Association (IHCA) may also be sufficient for other license types (i.e.: Social Work, Certified Dietary Manager, etc.) as long as the learning objectives and educational levels of the presenter(s) meet the licensure requirements. It is up to each attendee to determine the appropriateness of a session and whether it will meet the requirements of their license type.
